Leah Remini Quits Scientology

Longtime Scientologist Leah Remini, has decided to part ways with the controversial church, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

A member since her early teens, the former King of Queens star was very close to reaching the highest spiritual rank within the church, and  over the years, had became one of their most vocal member.

The falling out comes after Leah, 43, reportedly questioned Scientology leader David Miscavige, and the church’s unethical treatment of its member.

Although the actress has yet to release a statement explaining the deciding factors of her departure, a source told the New York Post “It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people. She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of ‘religion.'”;

She has issued the following statement, thanking the public for their support in this decision. “I wish to share my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming positive response I have received from the media, my colleagues, and fans from around the world. I am truly grateful and thankful for all your support.”;

Leah, 43, is just one of many celebs to make waves after leaving the Church of Scientology. Stars include Paul Haggis, Lisa Marie Presley, Y&R’s Michael Fairman, and deceased Christopher Reeve, Sonny Bono and Isaac Hayes.

The church’ most famous members remain Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Jenna Elfman and Kirstie Alley.
