It’s all work and no play right now for Zooey Deschanel, who nabbed the May 2012 cover of Marie Claire.
She opens up about loving her career, telling the magazine she has always known “there was nothing else I wanted to do… I wanted to sing, perform, act.”
The quirky actress, 32, filed for divorce from her husband of two years – Death Cab for Cutie front man Ben Gibbard – at the beginning of the year, and says she has been focusing on work ever since.
“I don’t have time to date. I literally don’t-have-time,”; explains the actress, who struck it big this year with her first ever Golden Globe nod for “New Girl”.
Zooey adds that children and the domestic life never really interested her anyway. “That’s never been my focus… My sister [Emily] was always very motherly, baby-sitting and stuff, she says. “I like kids, and I like being around kids – but it was never an ambition.”
The “New Girl” star also reveals that she was bullied in school: “I still have in me the same awareness when I was 12 and chubby and a girl was spitting in my face. I’m the same person. Certainly you change, and you change perspective, you have other experiences. But isn’t it funny – I can still remember when I was treated differently from the way I’m treated now.”
