In only her second appearance on the Late Show, television heavyweights Oprah Winfrey and David Letterman bond over their mutual love of meditation.
Having introduced meditation within her company back in 2010, Oprah praises its positive effects. “Well, actually, I brought meditation to my whole company just before just before I ended, like in 2010, because it makes for a better environment when everybody is focused and of one mind and doing well.”;
And obviously not feeling zen vibes from David, Oprah quickly assumes the typically cynical talk show host is not onboard with meditation. “And there’s a great meditation challenge – do you meditate? I can tell you don’t, Never mind. I was just asking that. You know, I’m just being polite. I can tell you don’t.”
But apparently he does! Who knew? “I do,”; he says while the audience laughs. “I mean, why would I lie about that?”;
A stunned Oprah suggests a reluctant David take part in her meditation challenge. “No, it’s a meditation challenge that Deepak Chopra and I are doing. You go online, Oprah.com, and you can sign up and it’s free because I want people to more people to meditate.”
Did he accept? You’ll have to tune in tonight to find out.
Oprah appears on the late night show to promote her latest film Lee Daniels’ The Butler, which also stars Forest Whitaker, John Cusack and Jane Fonda. The film, based on a true story, follows the life of Cecil Gaines, a White House Butler who witnessed notable events of the twentieth century during his time at the presidential mansion. The film opens August 16.
Catch Oprah and Dave’s zen moment, and Paul Rudd too, on the Late Show tonight.
