Joined by director Lee Daniels and co-stars David Oyelowo, Forest Whitaker and Jane Fonda on Lee Daniel’s The Butler red carpet, Oprah Winfrey says she’s sorry for the media frenzy that arose after claiming she experienced racism during a trip to Switzerland.

“I think that incident in Switzerland was just an incident in Switzerland,”; Oprah says adding, “I’m really sorry it got blown up.”;

Elaborating on her interview with Entertainment Tonight, where Lady O recalled a clerk at Trois Pommes refusing to show her a hand bag, “I was just referencing it as an example of being in a place where people don’t expect that you would be able to get there,”; she tells reporters. “And you know, for me, racism doesn’t show up. Nobody’s going to come up and call me the N-word to my face unless they’re a thug on Twitter, you know, or Facebook.”;

“It’s not an indictment against the country or even that store,”; she continued. “It was just one person who didn’t want to offer me to opportunity to see the bag. So no apologies necessary from the country of Switzerland.”;

In true Oprah form, the entrepreneur adds, “if somebody makes a mistake in the United States do we apologize in front of the whole country? No!”;
