In the first official speaking engagement since his wife Kate Middleton gave birth to their son George, Prince William gave an update on the royal baby and addressed some of the challenges of fatherhood.
Speaking to a crowd during a farming event Wednesday on the island Anglesey off the northwest coast of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge apologized for the fact that Kate and his newborn son couldn’t be with him. “This island has been our first home together, and it will always be an immensely special place for us both,”; said William, whose tour of duty as a search and rescue pilot based in the area will end next month.
“Catherine and I look forward to returning again and again with our family,”; he said. “I have to say that I thought search and rescue duties over Snowdonia were physically and mentally demanding, but looking after a 3-week-old baby is right up there,”; he added.
Further addressing Prince George, William shared that “he’s pretty loud and extremely good-looking.”; Referring to his son as “lovely,”; he revealed that he and Kate have had a “few sleepless nights,”; but that the baby is “sleeping much better now.”;
With his tour of duty in the Royal Air Force nearing an end, the Royal Palace is expected to announce Prince William’s next role soon.
