Celeb Backlash Over Miley’s VMA Performance

By ET Canada, .

Days after Miley Cyrus twerked her way back into the headlines, social media is still on fire with reaction to her over-the-top MTV Video Music Awards’ performance. While Miley  left the VMAs without a shiny moonman to place on her shelf, the 20-year-old singer certainly left her mark!  Shortly after she left the stage, Miley tweeted to her over 13-million Twitter followers:

The Hannah Montana star-turned-media-sensation may be thrilled with her performance, but many of her peers certainly aren’t.

Although former Disney alum Selena Gomez gave Miley a stamp of approval by telling Us Weekly, “I thought it was awesome. I like Robin Thicke too, so I like that they [collaborated]. I thought it was good.”  Many other celebs haven’t been shy to bash her performance.

Right after her notorious grind with the 36-year-old Blurred Lines crooner, Americas Got Talent host Nick Cannon tweeted:

Even Hannah Montana’s own TV mom Brooke Shields couldn’t help but throw in a joke and told Today, “I was Hannah Montana’s mother. I do not approve. Where did I go wrong”; She added, “I just want to know who’s advising her, and why it’s necessary?” She slammed her further by saying, “I feel like it’s a bit desperate. Are you trying to be [Lady] Gaga?”;

Close gal pal Kelly Osbourne, also made her stance on the outrageous performance clear during her last Fashion Police show,  saying,  “”;Miley’s my friend and I love her, and I have her back no matter what, but as her friend I’m going to tell her: put your f***ing tongue in your mouth!”;

While it’s hard to tell what kind of toll her stunt will have on her career and upcoming “Bangerz’ album sales, for now the saying, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity,” seems to ring true – at least it does in Hollywood.
