Kerry Washington has landed her second October cover! The Scandal mega-star, who also covers Glamour this month, keeps it classy as she covers the latest issue of Flare magazine. Sporting statement making outerwear and looking sexy all at once, Kerry dishes to the mag about Olivia Pope, red carpet fashion and acting.

Her Scandal character Olivia Pope has become a newfound inspiration for women everywhere. The D.C. fixer is a tough cookie but Kerry admits that Olivia goes deeper than that, telling Flare “she’s a complicated, three-dimensional, interesting, flawed, inspirational human being.”

But what about Kerry? Since starring in the D.C. themed show, the actress has become a major fashion icon, even making Vanity Fair“s International Best Dressed list — a side to her career she has learned to embrace. “The red carpet is good marketing. When you work so hard, you should stand behind the project in a way that magnetizes people. So I, like a good, only-child student, studied fashion and decided I was going to play that game, and fell in love with it, and with the artists and designers.”

And on acting, the actress reveals that she never saw it as a serious career growing up. “I didn’t think I would do this for a living – because I didn’t know anybody who did. I come from an academic family, so I figured I would have a real job.”;

Pick up the October issue of Flare magazine for more of Kerry showing off the season’s sexiest fall looks.
