In a summer dominated by movies that either underperformed (Pacific Rim, Elysium) or flopped horribly (Lone Ranger, After Earth, R.I.P.D.), World War Z was a notable exception. Despite a notoriously troubled production history that saw the film’s budget balloon from $120 million to $200 million, World War Z went on to earn positive reviews and grossed half a billion dollars worldwide, making it Brad Pitt’s biggest success to date. So it should come as no surprise that Pitt is seriously considering going forward with a sequel.
“We’re certainly talking about it, yes,” said Pitt while promoting 12 Years a Slave at TIFF. “We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work. We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further.”
No word yet on who will be hired to write the script.
