He’s one of Hollywood’s most eccentric actors with an Oscar under his belt, but is Nicolas Cage really ready to give it all up and lead a quiet life?

Just over a week ago Nicolas, 49, was honoured with a career tribute at the Deuville American Film Festival, and with lifetime achievement recognition, comes rumours of retirement.

While stepping out at the Toronto International Film Festival to premiere his gritty new film, Joe, he assures ET Canada he is not quitting acting anytime soon. “I feel like I’m at my best when I have something great to work on and I don’t see myself retiring anytime soon,”; he says. “Film performance has been a part of me since I was 15 and it’s been 35 years now and over 80 movies.”;

Meanwhile, unfortunately it’s bad news if you were hoping to see the actor shoot up the screen in the testosterone-fueled blockbuster three-quel, The Expendables 3. He put an end to conflicting reports that he’s set to star alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. “I’m not in that,”; Cage confirms.
