Turn on the radio and you’re sure to catch Bahamas AKA Afie Jurvanen heating up the airwaves with his dreamy and nostalgic hit Lost In The Light.

KD Lang and Dallas Green have shown love for the Ontario native, who used to play guitar for Feist, but now one of his biggest supporters is Hawaii native Jack Johnson who shares his love for mellow music.

“Between him and I, it’s probably the most laid back tour I’ve been on,”; explains Afie to ET Canada at the iTunes Festival in London, where he’s opening for Johnson. “I think that his music, the power is in it’s simplicity and I adhere to that same idea.”;

While Jack has won millions of followers with his positive and upbeat songs about loving his wife, and breakfast in bed, Bahamas pairs his soothing sound with lyrics about heartbreak. “Ultimately I just try to write love songs,”; he says. “I think those love songs often come out in a dark way, but I think the record succeeds because it doesn’t leave you feeling dark or down. The overall tone of the album is pretty optimistic,”; describes Afie of his album, Barchords.

We have more on the iTunes Festival here,  and in the video below,  Afie describes why, like his pal Jack, it’s less about sex, drugs, and rock “n roll and more about family, love and the environment!
