The 65th Emmy Awards saw some of the hottest fashion and beauty trends grace its red carpet this year. Despite the overwhelming variety, four colours stood out from the pack to dominate television’s biggest night: the patriotic red, white and blue — and nude!
Going for maximum impact, many ladies chose dramatic red for the awards night. Winner of our Emmys best dressed poll, The Big Bang Theory“s Kaley Cuoco stunned in a strapless burgundy Vera Wang ball gown. Sofia Vergara, on the other hand, chose to play up her curves in a vibrant body hugging dress, also by Vera Wang.
Kate Mara, Taylor Schilling and Julianna Margulies all chose the more subdued white for their Emmy walk down the red carpet. Breaking Bad“s Anna Gunn landed herself on the best dressed list with a black and white Romona Keveza gown.
Tina Fey donned one of her best looks yet in a blue halter dress by Narciso Rodriguez, while Girls” Alison Williams kept it classic in a cobalt blue gown by the all-american Ralph Lauren.
Finally, nude dominated the Emmy red carpet this year, with many attendees choosing a flattering blush tone for their look. Red carpet heavyweight and People’s Best Dressed of the year, Kerry Washington, stunned in yet another show-stopping embellished gown by Marchesa. Others who followed suit included Cobie Smulders, Julia Louis Dreyfus and Rose Byrne. While attending the Emmys alongside beau Bobby Cannavale, Rose stood out from the crowd in a minimal blush column gown by Calvin Klein.
In the beauty department, the bob was the hairstyle of choice for the night, with Claire Danes, January Jones, Michelle Dockery, Kate Mara, Rose Byrne and Julianne Hough opting for a sleek or wavy chin-grazing style.
Also popular on Sunday night was the bold red lip. Amanda Peet, Christina Hendricks, Taylor Schilling, Elisabeth Moss all sported the dramatic look with a few keeping it fresh by choosing a shade with orange undertones.
And finally, several actresses added that extra touch by amping up their usual manicure. Connie Britton, Kelly Osbourne, Sarah Hyland and Zooey Deschanel all receive extra credit for incorporating bold nail art into their looks.
