The Twitterverse went nuts during Sunday night’s series finale of Breaking Bad, with numerous celebs tweeting their responses to the OMG final episode.
In fact, Mashable has tallied up all those tweets from the multiple airings of the finale, determining that Breaking Bad was responsible for generating a whopping 1.24 million tweets that night.
As fans of Pretty Little Liars know, that’s not enough to topple the Twitter dominance of the teen mystery series, which racked up 1.9 million tweets for its most recent season finale.
However, neither Bad nor Liars came close to matching the social-media traffic of a pair of other television broadcasts: the NFL season-opener, which created 20 million interactions from more than 8 million people; and the 2013 VMAs, which generated an unbelievable 26 million Facebook interactions, with Miley Cyrus’s twerky duet with Robin Thicke spawning an unbelievable 306,000 tweets per minute.
Note to future TV series seeking to increase Twitter traffic: twerking = tweeting.
