The Tennessean confirms the band’s lead singer said “yes” to Toronto’s starting catcher on Monday night. After dating for a year-and-a-half, the baseball star proposed at Perry’s parents’ house in Greeneville, Tennessee.
It was the proposal the songstress had always dreamed of, with the athlete standing under a large oak tree she always wished it would happen under, revealing she thought: “if I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree.”

Her mom sent her back in the house to put on her fave pink dress, which she found along with a letter from her family and a bracelet her grandfather had given her grandmother when they started dating.
“I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather’s bracelet,” she reveals. “I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”
The engagement sparkler that sealed the deal is an emerald cut, 3.3 karat diamond. They plan to wed in summer 2014.
