Chris Brown Admits Rihanna ‘Incident’ Was Biggest Wake Up Call

By Lori Harito, .

Four years after the now infamous abuse by Chris Brown to then-girlfriend, Rihanna, the rapper is speaking out about what he refers to as the “Rihanna incident.’

Chris told The Guardian newspaper that he remembers the assault as “the biggest wake-up call for me.”;

It made him realize he  had to “stop acting like a little teenager, a crazy, wild young guy.”;

Despite public brawls with Drake and Frank Ocean, Chris doesn’t consider himself a violent man. The 24-year-old rapper says he’s learned from that night in 2009 and the resounding public fallout calling it “one of the most troubling times in my life.”;

“I learned from it, and it was almost like… I wouldn’t say it happened for a reason, but it was something to trigger my mind to be more of a mature adult. To handle myself in situations, don’t throw tantrums, don’t be a baby about it.’

Chris doesn’t want the incident to follow him around anymore. He’s adamant that he’s not the aggressor.

“People think I just walk around as the aggressor, this mad black guy, this angry, young, troubled kid, but I’m not. I’m more and more laid-back. It’s just that people know if they push a button, it’ll make more news than their music. Attaching themselves to me, good or bad, will benefit them.’
The effects of the incident and the loss of many contract deals has taught Chris who his real friends are. He continues to surround himself with those people.
