Anyone looking for a little Beverly Hills 90210 nostalgia won’t have to look far, following today’s announcement that Jennie Garth has been cast alongside former 90210 cast mate Tori Spelling in the new ABC Family channel comedy Mystery Girls. Both Tori and Jennie will also serve as executive producers
According to the ABC Family announcement, Jennie and Tori will play the former stars of a once-popular-but-long-since-cancelled TV show — also called Mystery Girls — who find themselves becoming real-life crime-solvers when one of them witnesses a crime. Tori’s character, Holly, “is desperate to regain her former fame and plans to resurrect her life by using her acting skills and crime “experience’ to open a detective agency,”; reads the network announcement. “Now she just has to get Charlie (played by Jennie Garth), her former co-star-turned suburban housewife and mother, on board with the plan.”;
Production on the Mystery Girls pilot is scheduled for next month.
