Kim Kardashian’s bad luck is someone else’s good luck. The engagement ring ex-husband, Kris Humphries, gave to the reality star was auctioned off on Tuesday, October 15 by Christie’s for $749,000, confirms a rep from the auction house.
Bidding for the Lorraine Schwartz creation started at $200,000, but quickly rose to $620,000 and with Christie’s buyer’s premium, the anonymous phone-bidder will end up footing a $749,000 total for the ginormous 16.21-carat centre emerald diamond surrounded by 1.8-carat side diamonds. Unfortunately for Kris, it’s just a fraction of the price the sparkler is reportedly worth – a whopping $2 million!
The couple walked down the aisle back in 2011, and the spectacular event was televised on the E! network for a two-part special titled, Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event. But after just 72 days of marriage, Kim filed for divorce from the pro-baller.
Kim reportedly gave the ring back to her ex over a year ago, but the Celtics’ forward was waiting until their divorce was finalized to sell the bauble.
