David Boreanaz On Much-Anticipated ‘Bones’ Wedding

By Brent Furdyk.

It only took nine seasons, but this Monday will bring the moment for which Bones fans have been waiting all those years when Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) and Temperance Brennan finally tie the knot in the Oct. 21 episode.

Traditionally, TV weddings are set in finales, with a season-long buildup to the big day; however, says star David Boreanaz, it made more sense for Bones to have the wedding at the beginning of the season and let this new stage in the on-again-off-again couple’s relationship become the season’s starting point.

“I mean, it’s only been nine seasons so we might as well just get off to a better start, which is getting this wedding done,”; says David, “because everyone is asking, “When are they gonna have this wedding?’ So the wedding developed and it’s happening and we shot it and it’s done, it’s in the can and it’s a thank you to all our fans… and some say, “Well now that you’re married, well, what do you do now?’ Well, there’s a lot that you can do with the characters now that they’re hitched and I think that it will be a really fun, interesting time in their lives and where the show can go with it.”;

Will the show be undergoing any fundamental changes now that the crime-solving couple are husband and wife? “It doesn’t change once you get married,”; he says. “I think the characters evolve with the storylines and what they are and how they’re gonna deal with it. I think some of the best writing comes because there’s such contradictions in it and I think if you have that then you have something special and we definitely have that.”;

As he reveals, he and co-star Emily Deschanel have been part of the show’s creative process, both in front of and behind the camera. “We focused, Emily and I, on the characters and we worked with our acting coach for seven seasons, every weekend, and broke the script down and tried to make it better for what was there and offered ideas to [Bones creator] Hart [Hanson], who was extremely encouraging and would definitely allow those moments to happen…you can have 12 people telling you how they want it, but at the end of the day you can put yourself out there and you make it the way you see fit and it works…telling the story and finding the moment, and that’s how we focused on it, Emily and I.”;
