When he’s not appearing in movies, writing books, working on his PhD, adapting literary classics, or appearing on soap operas, James Franco apparently has a bit of free time on his hands.
One of the ways that he’ll fill up that time next spring is by making his Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men. According to the New York Times, Franco has officially signed on to play the role of George in the Broadway revival of John Steinback’s classic, and he’ll likely be joined by fellow Judd Apatow alum Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), who’s currently in negotiations to play the role of Lennie.
The 1937 play tells the story of two migrant field workers in California during the Great Depression. Tony-award winner Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County) is set to direct.
