Global is touting big comebacks in its fall primetime line-up: Michael J Fox, James Spader, Blair Underwood and Sean Hayes will all return to the small screen with new shows, but it was one devious soap star who took centre stage at the Shaw Media upfronts.
Susan Lucci stepped out in a streamlined blue dress to talk about her new series, Devious Maids executive produced by Desperate Housewives alum Eva Longoria. “There’s always room for drama,” Susan said in response to why she signed on to such a drama filled series after spending years acting in soap operas.
But in this new Lifetime Canada series we get to see a whole new side of the daytime legend, explains her co-star Ana Ortiz, who plays the invaluable housekeeper Marisol Duarte: “I don’t think anybody has ever seen you like this. I mean she is hysterically funny. People think of you as a dramatic actress and she is knee slapping funny.”;
Susan stars as the rich but hopelessly romantic Genevieve Delatour and says fans will be surprised throughout the series. “There’s something fresh about the show. It has a fresh look a fresh feel and a fresh sound. I just love it.”;
