When preparing to play iconic cartoon tycoon Daddy Warbucks in the upcoming remake of the hit musical Annie, Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx reveals he drew inspiration from none other than music mogul Sean “Puffy”; Combs.

In today’s episode of Katie, Jamie tells host Katie Couric that he based the performance of his Annie character — renamed “Will Stacks”; for this new version — on Diddy.

“To be honest with you,”; Jamie tells Katie, “I’m gonna let the cat out of the bag just a little bit, I’m sort of mirroring Puffy a little bit,”; mirroring the change in Puffy’s man-about-town, party-all-the-time persona of the 2000s until he had kids and settled down. “I saw Puff soften,”; reveals Jamie. “So I’m using that as a little bit of Daddy Warbucks DNA.”;

Jamie is currently shooting Annie in New York City, with 10-year-old Beasts of the Southern Wild Oscar-nominee Quvenzhané Wallis in the title role.

Jamie’s appearance airs on today’s edition of Katie.
