Hot on the heels of Friday’s announcement that CBS was planning to produce a rebooted version of supernatural hit Charmed, at least one of the show’s former stars thinks it’s too soon to remake a show that’s only been off the air since 2006.
Taking to Twitter, Mistresses star Alyssa Milano wrote: “The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is… it just… it feels like yesterday. It feels too close.”;
Meanwhile, Alyssa’s former Charmed co-star Rose McGowan also weighed in, tweeting: “They really are running out of ideas in Hollywood…lame lame lame lamertons.”;
According to Rolling Stone, Charmed has become a binge-watching favourite on Netflix, which has led to interest in reviving the series.
Charmed, which ran from 1998-2006, followed the adventures of a trio of sorceress sisters, starring Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan. Former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty left the show after its third season in what was reportedly one of TV’s most acrimonious splits.
UPDATE: On Oct. 30, Alyssa tweeted that she’d be up to participate in a Charmed reunion movie: “I would definitely do a #charmed movie. Would you, @H_Combs @rosemcgowan and @DohertyShannen?”;
Shannen Doherty tweeted that she was also good to go; “yep I would. Enough was left undone to address and make a good movie.”;
