There was much rejoicing among fans of “24”; when Fox announced plans to revive the franchise, with “24: Legacy”; due to hit TV screens in early 2017.

But when they learned this revamped reboot would not include Kiefer Sutherland playing Jack Bauer, there was a collective response of “Dammit!”;

But wait! In a panel discussion at this weekend’s ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, “24”; producer Howard Gordon said that we may not have seen the last of Jack Bauer, and there’s a chance that Sutherland could make an appearance in the upcoming revival in which Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton”;) plays a rookie CTU agent who follows in Jack’s explosive footsteps.

“I do think the character has life in him, whether it’s a movie or if he intersects with this new iteration of “24”;,”; said Gordon, as reported by Yahoo.

“I sure would love to see him at some point on the show,”; he added, “and I don’t think he’s ruled it out, either.”;

“24: Legacy”; is slated to debut following Super Bowl 51 on Feb. 5, 2017.

In the meantime, Sutherland will have his hands full with his latest project, ABC conspiracy thriller “Designated Survivor”;, which is earning early buzz as one of the most anticipated new series of the upcoming fall TV season.
