Jack Black And Tim Robbins To Star In New HBO Comedy: ‘The Brink’

Jack Black and Tim Robbins have signed on to a new HBO comedy pilot called The Brink, described by The Hollywood Reporter as a dark half-hour comedy that follows a “geopolitical crisis and its effect on three disparate and desperate men.”;

Robbins has been cast as Walter Hollander, America’s secretary of state (“a man of big appetites and little patience for the war mongers in the Situation Room), while Black will play Alex Coppins, “a lowly foreign service officer reluctantly caught on the ground in the middle of it all.”; In addition, another key character — Navy fighter pilot Zeke Callahan — has yet to be cast.

This isn’t the first time the actors have worked together; Black had a small role in the 1995 Oscar-winner Dead Man Walking, which Robbins directed, while Robbins made a cameo in Black’s 2006 comedy Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny.
