Queen Of Disco Donna Summer Dies At 63

ET Canada can confirm that Disco Queen Donna Summer has died at the age of 63, following a 10-month battle with cancer. ET has just found out that Donna was battling lung cancer that nobody knew about, except for her husband and children.

The songstress made her mark in the ’70s with her best known hits, “Hot Stuff”, “Bad Girls”, “She Works Hard for the Money”, “I Feel Love” and “Love to Love You Baby”.

Donna’s family has released the following statement saying they “are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continue legacy.”;

Meanwhile the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin gave the following statement on Donna’s passing: “So shocking to hear about the passing of Donna Summer. In the ’70s, she reigned over the disco era and kept the disco jumping. Who will forget Last Dance. A fine performer and a very nice person.”;

Chaka Khan was friends with Donna for more than 30 years and gave this statement: “I will miss her very much. My love goes out to her family. I’m here for them. Donna and I had a friendship for over 30 years. She is one of the few black women I could speak German with and she is one of the few friends I had in this business.”;

Dolly Parton also remembers her friend: “I can’t believe we’ve lost another wonderful singer. Donna, like Whitney, had one of the greatest voices ever. I loved her records. She was the disco queen and will remain so. I knew her and found her to be one of the most likable and fun people ever. She will be missed and remembered.”;

And the songstress guest starred on “Family Matters”; playing Urkel’s aunt and today Jaleel White released the following statement on her death to ET Canada: “She was one of the best guest-stars we ever had on Family Matters. She will be missed.”;
