In the film version of Hunger Games, Katniss’ younger sister Prim (Willow Shields) had a cat with black and white fur. For a few die hard fans of the book, this was nothing short of blasphemy—in Suzanne Collins’ novel, the cat is described as having yellow fur!

So, in order to appease these fans, Prim will have a new cat in the upcoming Catching Fire with the appropriate colour of fur.

“That was a request from Nina [Jacobson] the producer and Suzanne the author,”; director Francis Lawrence told io9.com of the change. “They thought the cat from the first movie was not the way he was described in the book. And that had annoyed a bunch of fans, and things like that.”;

But by messing up the continuity between the two movies just to fix what most people would regard as an inconsequential detail, Lawrence has generated another, even bigger controversy. “It’s funny because now people are split. Some people think we should have continued on with what happened in the first movie. And some people are really happy. You never win.”;
