David Cruz: 1984-1994
Jennifer Lopez rose to fame with her high school sweetheart, David Cruz, by her side. Lopez and Cruz began dating when she was only 15 and would see the relationship come to an end one decade later. In 2004, Lopez opened up about her first love, saying that Cruz “is a friend and he probably knows me better than anyone else."
Wesley Snipes: 1995
After calling it quits with her Cruz, Lopez moved on with her “Money Train” co-star Wesley Snipes after the actor persistently flirted with her on-set. The relationship marked JLo’s first celebrity boyfriend with whom she also filmed her very first sex scene.
According to Remezcla, Lopez recalled Snipes’ flirty ways, saying, "he was flirting with me — you always flirt with your costars, it's harmless — then he just started getting a little more serious. He would invite us all out together and then at the end of the night, he'd drop me off last and try to kiss me. I'd be like, 'Wesley, please, I'm not interested in you like that.”
Ojani Noa: 1997-1998
In 1997, Jennifer Lopez fell madly in love with Cuban waiter Ojani Noa right before landing her big break in “Selena”. Unfortunately, the marriage would become the first of Lopez’s short-lived marriages — the couple divorced one year after tying the knot.
Tommy Mottola: 1998
Shortly after Tommy Mottola’s divorce with Mariah Carey, the music executive was rumoured to have dated JLo in 1998. The short-lived romance is said to have fueled the years-long beef between Lopez and Carey.
Sean Combs: 1999-2001
In 1999, Lopez began a high-profile relationship with Sean Combs after working with the rapper on her “On the 6” album.
The stars were briefly in trouble with the law after kicking off their romance, with both being charged in connection with a Manhattan nightclub shooting. Charges against Lopez, however, were quickly dropped after questioning.
The early drama surrounding the shooting appeared may have taken its toll on the romance, with Lopez and the rapper putting an end to things shortly thereafter. But the couple still had time to make one more headline-making appearance at the 42nd annual Grammy Awards, where Lopez made jaws drop in a belly-grazing Versace gown.
Chris Judd: 2001-2002
JLo famously began dating her backup dancer, Chris Judd, in 2001 after first meeting on the 2000 set of her “Love Don’t Cost A Thing" video, where Judd was hired as a director.
She and Judd would marry in September 2001, but their high-profile marriage would quickly fizzle out when the pair divorced after nine months of not-so-wedded-bliss.
In 2014, Judd opened up about the lack of privacy in their union saying that it was “tough to be in that limelight… You kind of have to take it and accept it and embrace it. Once you stop fighting it, it smoothes itself over. If you try to keep that privacy, it drives you nuts and that's why people break.”
The loss of privacy, however, “had no bearing on the outcome of [their] relationship. Unfortunately, it just didn't work out,” he insisted.
Ben Affleck: 2002-2004
Lopez fell in love with leading man Ben Affleck after working with the Oscar-winning hunk on 2003’s widely-panned “Gigli”.
Together, Affleck and JLo were dubbed "Bennifer" by the media, made several high-profile red carpet appearances, starred in Lopez’s “Jenny From The Block” video, and attracted the paparazzi wherever they went. In November of 2002, the couple began a year and a half long engagement when Affleck proposed with a 6.10-carat pink diamond ring.
The romance eventually ended in January of 2004 after Affleck called off the nuptials due to excess media scrutiny.
"We didn't try to have a public relationship," Lopez told People. "We just happened to be together at the birth of the tabloids, and it was like, 'Oh my God.' It was just a lot of pressure."
"I think different time, different thing, who knows what could've happened, but there was a genuine love there,” Lopez added about the relationship, which she called her “first big heartbreak.”
Marc Anthony: 2004-2011
After calling it quits with Affleck, Lopez quickly reunited with ex Marc Anthony, whom she would wed only months later in June of 2004 — days after Anthony finalized his divorce from first wife Dayanara Torres. The pair welcomed twins Max and Emme, but would eventually split after seven years together in July of 2011, citing irreconcilable differences.
Most recently, Lopez and Anthony sparked rumours of a rekindled romance when they shared a kiss onstage at the Latin Grammys.
Casper Smart: 2011-2016
JLo fell for the charms of yet another backup dancer in 2011 when she began dating Casper Smart.
The singer confirmed their on-and-off-again status with Wendy Williams, telling the talk show host that “it’s not that dramatic…it’s like, bye, then we get back together and then, hi.”
Of their low-key love, Smart once shed light on their simple romance, saying “we don’t really go out very much [...] We both don’t drink, we don’t do any drugs, smoking, pills or any of the craziness. We don’t get wrapped up in the Hollywood life that can chew you up and spit you out. I’ve seen it happen a million times.”
After making several glamorous red carpet appearances over the years, their relationship was said to have come to a “natural end”.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy: 2014
Romance rumours between Jennifer Lopez and “Dancing with the Stars” dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy began swirling after the pair were spotted at a nightclub together in June of 2014. When pressed on their potential relationship, the ballroom champion dodged questions on the topic with this reply: "She's great, I have fun," he said. “And while other names are out there ... I am not a scumbag.”
Here, the entertainers put their undeniable chemistry on display when they danced together at the American Music Awards in 2013.
Drake: 2016 - 2017
JLo and Drake first sparked romance rumours when the Canadian rapper was spotted at the “Ain’t Your Mama” singer’s Las Vegas residency spectacle, not one, but twice!
Despite their numerous shows of affection on social media, an insider close to the rapper revealed that the relationship “was never very serious” at all. “They like one another and had fun together,” the source continued to People.
“It was and is fun when they see each other,” the insider added. “They love hanging out and making music together. She has great respect for him and his talent and he does for her as well.”
According to another source, the pair were also busy collaborating on new music. And at one point, the rapper — who has been known to shower his love interests with lavish presents — gifted the Latina triple treat a $100,000 Tiffany Victoria necklace while spending New Year’s Eve together in Las Vegas.
Alex Rodriguez: 2017
Jennifer Lopez appears to be off the market yet again, and it’s all thanks to her rekindled friendship-turned-romance with former New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez.
When the former MLB star was grilled during his appearance on “The View”, Rodriguez didn’t attempt to deny the rumours. "It’s obvious,” he said on March 31. “We’re having a great time…She’s an amazing girl. One of the smartest human beings I’ve ever met, and also an incredible mother.”
A-Rod has a storied past with Hollywood’s most eligible ladies. He previously dated Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Madonna and more.
