He Used to Wrestle
While attending Lake Stevens High School in Lake Stevens Washington, a teenaged Chris Pratt was a member of the wrestling team, even placing fifth in a state wrestling tournament.
When his coach asked Pratt what he wanted to do with his life, he apparently responded with, "I don't know, but I know I'll be famous."
In one of life's full circle moments, Pratt later executive-produced a documentary on his old school's wresting team which aired on MTV in 2012 before going on to co-star alongside professional wrestler Dave Bautista in "Guardians of the Galaxy".
I think there's more than a few of us who'd like to get in the ring with Pratt now, amirite?
He Was Class Clown
In addition to wrestling, it should come as no surprise that during his high school days, Pratt was also known for making his fellow students laugh, so much so that he was voted class clown.
Apparently he was known for his Michael Jackson impression and even did a pretty decent moonwalk.
We wanna know what ever happened to fellow class clown Chrissy Barr, though. Call us with your Chris Pratt stories, Chrissy!
He Used To Strip
Move over, Channing Tatum, you're not the only male stripper-turned-A-lister in Hollywood! That's right, before earning his living as an actor, Chris Pratt was known to take it all off for money.
However, it doesn't sound like it was very lucrative. While he stripped for the odd bachelorette party, he never could book a club gig, once joking to Ellen DeGeneres that he was very "low rent." Pratt also told Buzzfeed, "I did go one time and audition on stage for a club... but don't think I'm a very good dancer." We think a stripper career would be a LOT more lucrative now for Pratt.
He Was Homeless In Hawaii
After dropping out of community college after just one semester, Pratt took off for the beaches of Maui where he and a buddy lived for a while with no fixed address, calling a tent on the beach and even a van home.
"It's a pretty awesome place to be homeless," Pratt told The Independent newspaper in 2014. "We just drank and smoked week and worked minimal hours, just enough to cover gas, food, and fishing supplies."
He Was Discovered By Tommy Chong's Daughter
While living in Hawaii, 19-year-old Pratt worked as a waiter at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. "They love a gregarious waiter who will get in your face and sing you birthday songs and do trivia," he told Entertainment Weekly about the gig.
One of the customers on whom he waited was Rae Dawn Chong, actress and daughter of Tommy Chong. Pratt recognized her and, eager to break into the business himself, struck up a conversation with her. At the time Chong was preparing for her directorial debut, a horror comedy called "Cursed Part 3" "She said, 'You're cute do you act?'" Pratt explained to EW. "I was like f*ck it, 'G*damned right I act! Put me in a movie!'" And she did.
He Sold Coupons
Before becoming a movie star, Chris Pratt's career path began as a door-to-door salesman.
He told Vanity Fair:
"I was selling coupons for things like oil changes or trips to a spa. I was great at that." It also helped him react better to rejection in Hollywood on his way to stardom.
He Once Dated A Canadian
Before Anna Faris, he dated Canadian actress Emily VanCamp. The two met on the set of the CW series "Everwood", on which they played a brother and sister. The couple called it quits in 2007. Just think, he could have been an honourary Canadian!
He Was Only Supposed To Be On 'Parks And Recreation' For One Season
In 2009, Chris Pratt was cast in NBC's "Parks and Recreation" for what was originally only supposed to be a six-episode arc, playing Andy, the boyfriend of Rashida Jones' character, Anne.
The relationship wasn't set to last and Andy was never supposed to be heard from again, but it didn't take long for the show's creators to realize Pratt was something special, with co-creator Mike Schur revealing in an interview, "Almost at the point of audition we were like, 'Oh, we have to re-conceive this because this guy's the funniest person we've ever seen."
'The O.C.' Got Him Noticed
Following his role in "Everwood", Pratt went on to have a brief stint on "The O.C.".
Pratt starred as Che, one of Summer’s (Rachel Bilson) new hippie friends at Brown University. He got naked and sang and it was fantastic.
The role quickly became a fan favourite and got him noticed by Hollywood producers.
He's A Good Luck Charm
While Chris Pratt hasn't been nominated for an Oscar (yet) for three years in a row he appeared in films that went on to be nominated for Best Picture Academy Awards.
First up was "Moneyball" in 2011, then "Zero Dark Thirty" in 2012, followed by "Her" in 2013. If you're a filmmaker, Pratt may just be the good luck charm you need to get your movie nominated!
