Welcome to Bieber's Stratford
@jcvillamere
The Justin Bieber exhibit at the Stratford Perth Museum is called 'Steps to Stardom' because it's a look back at all the steps Bieber took along the way to international superstardom but also because a young Biebs used to perform on the steps of the Avon Theatre in Stratford. ("Steps," get it?) BTW, Stratford, Ontario, is a beautiful small town that's an easy drive from Toronto and you should go because this exhibit is excellent.

His World
@jcvillamere
One of the reasons it's so excellent? This exhibit was created with the help of Bieber and his family, especially his grandparents, Diane and Bruce Dale. That's why the items on display are so extra, like this autographed pair of D&G sneakers that Bieber wore on his 'My World' tour.

"Mistletoe"
@jcvillamere
Here's the holiday jacket Bieber wore for a live performance of "Mistletoe" on the 'Today' show, plus a pic of him wearing the jacket beside his mentor, Usher. You remember his 2011 Christmas hit "Mistletoe," right? It goes, "I don't wanna miss out on the holiday, but I can't stop starin' at your face." That is some serious face-starin'.

Exhibit 2.0
@jcvillamere
Don't worry if you can't remember the performance: This is a multimedia exhibit and they've got the video cued up so you can rewatch Bieber's 'Today' show "Mistletoe" performance while standing right beside the jacket he was wearing at the time. It's neat. You should try it.

"One Time"
@jcvillamere
Bieber's first single, "One Time", was a Top 20 hit when he was just 15. He was already an established star by his 18th birthday, which is when the Toronto Maple Leafs presented him with this birthday gift jersey signed by the whole team.

Stay Humble
@jcvillamere
And yet, Bieber focuses on staying grounded. The exhibit features some inspirational quotes from Bieber, like this one, which reads, "Be humble, be grateful, give back, share, pay it forward, choose your dreams, go for it, and take a moment to remember where it is ALL from."

He's a hockey fan
@jcvillamere
The exhibit helps you realize Bieber's humble beginnings and includes this, his childhood hockey bag. It's one of a number of hockey-related memorabilia, including his peewee division MVP award and a picture of him visiting the Stanley Cup as a child.

Soccer star
@jcvillamere
Bieber was also, apparently, an avid soccer player. He wore #6 as a forward for the Strikers boys under-12 team. His stats listed him as 4', 61 pounds. All together now: awww!

Laptop lids are the windows to the soul
@jcvillamere
Well, maybe not 'to the soul' but seriously, you can tell a lot about a person by their laptop and here's Bieber's. It's covered with skateboarding shoe stickers and Rolling Stones logos. Clearly his decor approach follows the 'more is more' aesthetic. We feel closer to him already.

'My World 2.0'
@jcvillamere
'My World 2.0' was Bieber's debut album. (Sure, it followed up his first offering, 2009's 'My World,' but that was an EP and this was his first full-length album.) 'My World 2.0' went platinum in Canada, which means Bieber got this big plaque, which is on display. The album has now gone 3x platinum in Canada and is a multiple-time platinum seller in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Switzerland and the States.

What a doll!
@jcvillamere
We cannot get enough of throwback merch like this. The Justin Bieber doll hit the market just before the Christmas of 2010 and originally cost $17.99. SPOILER ALERT: He's wearing pale blue briefs.

Backstage passes
@jcvillamere
The exhibit features loads of VIP passes and backstage passes from Bieber's performances on the Believe Tour, the My World Tour, the Purpose World Tour, and beyond.

Wait a second...
@jcvillamere
We spotted a Selena Gomez backstage pass in the mix! Bieber and Gomez first met in 2009 and publicly became a couple in 2011. They split at the end of 2014 but rekindled their romance last fall.

Whoa
Here's a letter from Michelle Obama to Justin Bieber, which means that when you're at the exhibit, you are in the presence of a piece of paper that both Michelle Obama and Justin Bieber have touched.

Message received
@jcvillamere
By 2015, after two years in the harsh media spotlight without a new album, many had written Bieber off as a has-been child star now more famous for peeing in a mop bucket, egging his neighbour's house, and his rocky breakup with Selena Gomez. One Direction threatened to replace him as the teen stars du jour. Would Bieber be able to face the haters, or would he fade into obscurity? The most hard-won accomplishment of any young performer's career is transitioning to a more mature sound while maintaining an audience. With so much riding on his comeback album, Bieber chose to face the haters with supreme positivity: his enormously risky 2015 album, 'Purpose,' was filled with uplifting messages. Bieber had stepped up and the world wanted to hear. The album debuted at #1 and broke the global streaming record for an album in its first week of release. He has scored all five #1 hits of his career since its release, including 2017's top hit "Despacito," and we can't wait to watch his next steps. Happy 24th, Justin!
