'Time Of Your Life'

Following guest spots on such TV series as "Spin City", "Law & Order" and "Fantasy Island" — and roles in films including Woody Allen's "Deconstructing Harry" and the Leslie Nielsen-starring "Mr. Magoo", Garner was in her late 20s when she was cast in "Time of Your Life", a 1999 spinoff of Fox hit "Party of Five" that followed Sarah Reeves Merrin (Jennifer Love Hewitt) as she moved to New York City to search for her biological parents. Garner played Sara's roommate, struggling actress Romy Sullivan. The show was cancelled in its first season.

'Dude, Where's My Car?'

In the wacky 2000 teen comedy starring Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott, Garner and Marla Sokoloff played the characters' twin girlfriends, Wanda and Wilma.

'Felicity'

In the final season of "Felicity", series creator J.J. Abrams cast Garner in the recurring role of Hannah Bibb, playing the girlfriend of Noel (Scott Foley, her real-life husband at the time). This would not be the last time she worked with Abrams, who would later cast her in her breakout TV role.

'Alias'

In 2001, J.J. Abrams cast Garner in the lead role in "Alias", portraying butt-kicking, disguise-loving super-spy Sydney Bristowe in the role that propelled her to stardom. "Alias" ran for five seasons, ending in 2006.

'Catch Me If You Can'

Garner earned glowing reviews for a small but memorable role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in "Catch Me If You Can" as a model-turned-call girl who hooks up with DiCaprio's con man character.

'Daredevil'

Garner portrayed knife-wielding Elektra in this early Marvel superhero movie, co-starring with future husband Ben Affleck, who played the titular blind vigilante. The movie was a dud, but everyone who saw "Daredevil" agreed Garner was the best thing about it.

'13 Going On 30'

Garner took top billing in this 2004 rom-com about a 13-year-old girl who makes a wish that she was 30 — and it comes true, with the girl waking up to discover herself in a grown-up body. The film was a hit, taking in nearly $100 million at the box office and ranking as one of the year's biggest DVD titles.

The last time Garner appeared in a movie with Matthew McConaughey — 2009's "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" — it was a commercial and critical disaster. Things went significantly better a few years later when she appeared in this 2011 Oscar winner, portraying Dr. Eve Saks, who treats AIDS patients.
