(not shown: men's tie worn over T-shirt.)

Teen Power!
People
Here's Lavigne on the Winter 2003 cover of 'Teen People'. She's all attitude and wrist cuffs here. And she's wearing a tie with a tank top! Throwing the sign of the horns is a classic Lavigne gesture.

Style Icon
NBC
When Lavigne wore her childhood soccer shirt prominently featuring team sponsor Napanee Home Hardware on 'Saturday Night Live' on January 11, 2003, her hometown hardware shop was inundated with calls from fans from around the world looking to get one for themselves.

Best Butt
Seventeen
Sure, we all dream of being on the cover of Seventeen magazine but those fantasies rarely involve having editorial control over the cover lines that will be written in bold yellow font across your awesome stripey wrist warmers. This version of Lavigne's style in the April 2007 issue includes a stripey hair-colour update (see that little pink streak? More to come!) and a more feminine lip colour on display.

The Sexy Side of Avril!
Blender
The singer posed topless for the June 2007 issue of Blender magazine, which just proves her confident style has little to do with clothing after all.

Channelling Britney?
For the 2007 video for "The Best Damn Thing", Avril played her own biggest cheerleader and had a gaggle of pompom shakers in her crew to back her up. When she's not asking for letters, Avril rocks out in a pink bob and a dress that looks like it's been crafted for a cheerfully warped tea party. There are also shots of Avril performing in a hoodie and singing into a microphone that's been BeDazzled within an inch of its life.

She Bangs
Arista
The burlesque-themed video for her 2007 single "Hot" off the 'Best Damn Thing' album shows a glammed-up Lavigne in a platinum wig — WITH BANGS!

FHM
FHM
In March 2012, Lavigne showed off a new-wave look on the cover of FHM. This feels very Debbie Harry glam-punk to us.

There's Something Different Here ...
Arista
Here we see the long silky locks, those colourful streaks, and an amount of eyeliner that would make our mothers just cry but the star of this 2011 video for “What The Hell” is really those geeky glasses.

Hello Avril
Arista
She went full "Hello Kitty" for the 2013 video for her song, um, "Hello Kitty", which appeared on her self-titled album that topped charts in China and Taiwan.

Bridal Style
Hello
In July 2013, Lavigne showed off her wedding style when she wed Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger. She kept her trademark eyeliners and long locks but added a softer, feminine wave here. The subtle, chic headpiece adds just enough glitter while the black bouquet is totally punk rock.

Bella in Bello
Bello
The then-29-year-old looked stunning on the cover of Bello magazine in October 2013. Who knew she could look so demure? Who knew about those cheek bones? And we are here all day long for those lace gloves.

The Survivor
People
Even after a harrowing battle with Lyme disease, Lavigne returned to the limelight in 2015 with her signature eyeliner on lock and her tough attitude intact.

Return of the Trucker Hat
@avrillavigne
Only the finest headwear for Lavigne when she's hanging with Shawn Mendes, as she did this past July. Definitely a casual Friday look because Lavigne left her tie at home.
-
...Above Water
@avrillavigne
Lavigne posted a trio of images spelling out 'Head Above Water', the name of the lead single off her new album, which is due out September 19.

Queen Lavigne
Arista
With a polished new look that is more mature yet still youthful, Lavigne prepares to launch her first album in five years. Now 33, Our Lady of Punk Pop Polish will release 'Head Above Water' on September 19. We can't wait to hear (and see!) more.
