Spike Lee celebrates as he wins his first ever competitive Oscar, for Best Adapted Screenplay for co-writing "BlacKkKlansman". In his speech, Lee recalled the year 1619 when the first African enslaved people were kidnapped and brought to the United States, and implored Americans to "do the right thing" in the 2020 elections.
Lee previously received an honorary Oscar for his life work in film.
