‘On The 6’
Sony Music Entertainment
Jennifer Lopez carved out a successful career as a dancer and an actress throughout the mid to late '90s. Her foray into music was considered to be a creative risk, with critics questioning her abilities as both a singer and a songwriter.
But the album shattered expectations, proving to be a commercial success. On the 6 peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, thanks in part to her first single "If You Had My Love". The track quickly soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, and remained in the No. 1 spot for five weeks. Other popular songs include fan favourites "Waiting For Tonight" and "Let's Get Loud", as well as "No me Ames" - a Spanish duet with her future husband Marc Anthony.
A cohesive fusion of pop, hip-hop and Latin influences, the LP served as the perfect introduction to one of the industry's premier performers. Lopez has since continued to dominate the charts for the past two decades, recording a catalogue of hits.

The song was originally co-written and recorded by Usher during his Confessions era. His version - titled "Ride" - was leaked online and released exclusively for the club circuit.
