Prince
Warner Bros.
Jay-Z is planning Tidal listening parties around the globe to introduce ‘Originals’, a posthumous album which features 14 previously-unreleased recordings from Prince who passed away three years ago. Jay-Z and Troy Carter curated these tracks from the late musician’s “vault” on behalf of the Prince Estate. “Prince led the way, for artistic freedom, for ownership,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “He’s one of the bravest people I can think of in the industry. He trusted us, not just me, but Tidal, to continue his fight. Trying to help further that legacy through his music is both an honor we couldn’t pass up as an organization dedicated to empowering artists. This gives his true fans that peak behind the curtain.” ‘Originals’ is out exclusively on Tidal on June 7th with a wide release set for July 19th.

Bob Dylan
Columbia
Remember back in 2005 when Martin Scorsese released the Dylan-focused documentary, ‘No Direction Home’? Well the times, they are not a changin' very much because Scorsese's new film is ‘Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story’. It captures Dylan’s 1975-76 tour where he welcomed guests on stage like Joni Mitchell, Ringo Starr, Patti Smith, and Bette Midler. The movie, which has been described as "part documentary, part concert film, part fever dream”, will be available on Netflix in Canada on June 12. And this record? This is the new 14-disc box set that accompanies the film. ‘Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings’ is available June 7. (Did you know some of the recordings were made in Quebec?)
