For Global Good
After Diana and Prince Charles separated, she had for freedom to focus on the charities that mattered most to her no matter how controversial at the time.
Both Meghan and Prince Harry have launched their own charitable organization so they can work on "a global scale" and undertake "some very ambitious things."
Random Acts Of Kindness
Harry and Meghan have been using their Instagram account to inspire others to give back and be the best person they can be.
In the first quote from someone other than themselves, they chose this one from Diana.
Including Her Sisters
During Harry and Meghan's wedding, they asked Princess Diana's older sister Lady Jane Fellowes (left) to give a reading.
“Prince Harry and Ms. Markle both feel honoured that Lady Jane will be representing her family and helping to celebrate the memory of the late Princess on the wedding day,” Kensington Palace said in a statement ahead of the big day.
Feminine But Feminists
”I think what Diana and Meghan have most in common is that they're both glamorous – feminine, but also feminists," royal biographer Andrew Morton said.
"They're independent, certainly for Diana, but also, humanitarian. Two women who want to give back."
A point often brought up is how Diana never got the chance to see her sons grow up and start families of their own.
Right after the birth of Archie, Meghan posed for a picture with the newborn's feet in front of forget-me-nots-- Diana's favourite flower.
Meghan also used the flowers in her wedding bouquet as a way to include Diana.
Continuing Diana's Legacy
“Not being able to meet his mom, it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us,” Meghan said in their engagement interview referencing both Diana's work and the fact that diamonds belonging to Di are now a part of her engagement ring.
In lieu of gifts on their wedding day, the couple asked for well-wishers to send a donation to a collection of seven charities.
One of them was Chiva Projects, an organization that helps kids deal with AIDS, a cause Diana was very passionate about.
While Meghan Markle already had a career behind here that trained her in media relations, Diana had to figure it out on her own.
Although both ladies have very similar styles in creating their own narrative.
Before Meghan Markle was even married into the royal family she was making private visits to the Hubb Community Kitchen.
Princess Diana was known to also make private visits before marrying Prince Charles.
As the newly formed Duke and Duchess of Sussex took off to their wedding reception, Meghan gave a wave showing off Diana's emerald-cut aquamarine ring.
Just another way they incorporated Princess Di into the wedding.
