Turkey season is in the Autumn air and everyone is getting in the Thanksgiving mood. Let’s take a moment to appreciate our very own Canadian stars that continuously give back.

Canadian singer Avril Lavigne has her own charity. The Avril Lavigne Foundation raises money for Lyme Disease research and treatment. Lavigne took a break from her music career due to suffering with the disease for many years.
Celine Dion

Canadian treasure Celine Dion is a spokeswoman for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The singer has brought awareness to the disease, generates large amounts of funds for research and care, and has donated her appearance fees from multiple concerts. Dion's niece died of the disease at 16-years-old.
Drake

Drake has not stuck to one specific cause when it comes to donations. His biggest contribution is the $1 million he generously donated to homeless shelters and families in poverty from his "God's Plan" video budget.
Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey has his own charity called The Better U Foundation. It aids global food security by supporting the System of Rice Intensification (SRI). The SRI allows for increases in rice productivity and helps farmers earn a better living.
Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has been very giving throughout his career. He has contributed to multiple charities over the years such as ALS Assocaition, Alzheimer's Assocaition, Make-A-Wish Foundation and World Vision.
Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves likes to keep it quiet with his donations. It was revealed that he has a private foundation that has been running for many years. The foundation helps aid children's hospitals and cancer research.
Martin Short

Martin Short frequently donates to a number of charities, including Comic Relief and the Women's Cancer Research Fund. Short's wife Nancy passed away from ovarian cancer in 2010. He will be speaking at the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Luncheon on Oct. 25, 2019.
Michael Buble

Michael Buble has donated to many charities, but most notable are his efforts towards cancer research. He partnered with Stand Up to Cancer UK to raise funds for cancer research in 2018. He did this a year after his son, now 6-years-old, was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2016. Thankfully, his son was given the all-clear in 2017 after treatment and much love from his parents.
Michael J. Fox

The Michael J. Fox Foundation is the world's largest non-profit for Parkinson's research. Fox launched the foundation in 2000 and has since worked tirelessly as a patient advocate. The actor was diagnosed with Parkinson's at the age of 29 in 1991. More than $900 million has been generated since the foundation's inception.
Rachel McAdams

Rachel McAdams is an environmentalist and has a home powered by renewable energy. She is the co-founder of an environmental website that helped clean up in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and has petitioned many times for a healthier environment. She is also a big supporter of children's foundations where she donated $75,000 to the Nanny Angel Network.
Ryan Gosling

Ryan Gosling continues to show support for different charities. He has supported HIV & AIDS causes, the fight against sexual abuse, children's foundations and endangered animals.
Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds has advocated many times for the environment. Reynolds narrated a documentary on the Great Bear Rainforest in B.C.

He is also an active supporter and sits on the board of directors at the Michael J. Fox Foundation. His father was diagnosed
and passed away from Parkinson's.
Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen founded Hilarity for Charity with his wife Lauren Miller - whose mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 55 - in 2017 to support Alzheimer's research. He previously donated to a variety of foundations that supported the cause. The foundation holds yearly comedy and music nights that donate all the proceeds to Alzheimer's research.
Shay Mitchell

Shay Mitchell is a big supporter of the WE Charity. She has attended many fundraisers across Canada, including "Me to We" day.

Mitchell also advocates for companies that give back. She is a supporter of Raven + Lily products who help women fight poverty.
Stephen Amell

"Arrow" star Stephen Amell dedicates his time to the charity F&CK cancer, after his mom successfully went through breast cancer treatment. He is on the board of the charity and has continuously supported them through numerous funding campaigns.
