“Cinderella” is a classic film we have all grown to love and cherish. It is the ultimate rags to riches story that leaves many to dream about living happily ever after.

To honour the film’s 70th anniversary milestone on March 4, 2020, we take a look at 10 movies that have been inspired by the Disney fairytale.

'If The Shoe Fits' (1990)

In 1990, the film "If The Shoe Fits" came out starring Rob Lowe and Jennifer Grey.

Kelly Carter (Jennifer Grey) works for a very successful fashion designer Francesco, where she dreams to eventually design shoes for him. No matter what she does, Kelly can't win his attention until she comes across a 'good fairy' on the street. The 'good fairy' enchants a pair of Kelly's shoes so that she turns into a model whenever she wears them.

Eventually winning Francesco's heart, she worries if he will love her for her real self.
'Ever After' (1998)

The 1998 take on Cinderella starring Drew Barrymore was a hit. She stars as peasant girl Danielle, who is a strong Cinderella-like heroine.

The film depicts more of a realistic approach to the classic fairytale.
'The Princess Diaries' (2001)

This enriching film has taught young women to be true to themselves and to never give up on their happily ever after.

Anne Hathaway stars as Mia Thermopolis, a shy and clumsy teen who finds out she is the heir to the throne of a European kingdom.

Just like Cinderella, Mia grows up in a life where she isn't understood. Her journey from rags to riches is both hilarious and heartwarming.
'A Cinderella Story' (2004)

Hilary Duff plays taken-for-granted Sam Montgomery, who is bullied by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters. This modern day take on the 1950s classic is anything but dull!

Sam and a mystery boy chat online, eventually realizing they're each other's missing piece in their own happily ever afters. Who plays her Prince Charming? The very handsome Chad Michael Murray.
'Ella Enchanted' (2004)

"Ocean's 8" Anne Hathaway plays Ella, who has been cursed by her fairy godmother to obey what everyone says. While on a journey to rid of the curse, she falls in love with a prince.

"Ella Enchanted" has more of a comedic twist compared to the original "Cinderella".
'Another Cinderella Story' (2008)

In another modern day instalment of the 1950 "Cinderella" film, Selena Gomez plays a girl named Mary whose passion is dancing.

Mary meets a boy named Joey at a dance, but she rushes away before the dance ends. This leaves Joey with only her music player to find out her true identity.
'Lying To Be Perfect' (2010)

Poppy Montgomery is Nola Devlin, an overweight magazine editor who is constantly teased by her co-workers. Nina follows in the classic Cinderella's footsteps by leading a double life.

By day she is a frumpy overlooked editor, by night she is a popular advice columnist. Her once dull and boring life becomes something she never expected as she also finds a handsome man to complete her fairytale ending.
'Rags' (2012)

"Rags" is a modern and gender-switched version of the classic "Cinderella" fairytale.

Charlie Prince is a young aspiring singer wishing to make something of himself while his family completely dismisses his dreams. Kadee Worth is a pop singer who is sick of the limelight.

One night, Kadee watches a performer named "Rags" who is secretly Charlie. He drops his CD during the night and Kadee makes it her mission to find the true identity of "Rags".
'Into The Woods' (2014)

This film is based on a modern twist of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, including the stories of Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood.

Anna Kendrick plays the part of Cinderella using her lovely vocals to her advantage. The fantasy film incorporates song and some dark comedy.
'Cinderella' (2015)

This new portrayal of Cinderella stars "Downton Abbey"'s Lily James as Cinderella and Cate Blanchett who plays the evil stepmother.
