'Wayne's World' (1992)
We can't talk about movie mullets without talking about Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar. They both have stellar hairstyles but Garth's foxy mullet is the real winner here. His shaggy hairdo with those iconic glasses make this look one to remember.
'The Lost Boys' (1987)
Sure, this vampire flick came out in 1987 and yes the mullet was an acceptable look back then but Kiefer Sutherland's bleach blonde mullet is next level. With a spiky top and wispy bottom, it's pretty bad and yet he somehow manages to look dangerous and dare we say, sexy? Sutherland actually apologized recently for this specific hairstyle and for making the mullet popular back then.
David Bowie made everything look cool and his epic mullet in this dark fantasy is no exception. His look is so iconic that people love dressing up as the Goblin King every Halloween. Seriously, only Bowie could pull off a perfectly coiffed mullet, while wearing tights and singing a song called "Dance Magic" surrounded by puppets, while looking so effortlessly cool.
'Joe Dirt' (2001)
Unlike other movie mullets from the ‘80s, Joe Dirt gets made fun of constantly because of his. However, we find out that he didn't even choose this hairstyle. It's revealed in the film that Joe's parent's installed a mullet wig on him as a baby after the top of his skull never formed properly. Makes perfect sense.
From "Big Trouble In Little China" to "Escape from New York", Kurt Russell has had a number of mullets - but his most memorable one is in "Overboard". I mean it's not everyday a rich woman (Goldie Hawn) falls off of her yacht, gets amnesia and then falls in love with a stranger sporting a mullet. Somehow, Russell just looks better with one.
'Con Air' (1997)
Let's be honest, Nicolas Cage's mullet in this thriller is pretty creepy. However, considering his character spent time in jail after being wrongly convicted, we'll give him a pass. But who can forget that scene when Cage gets off of the bus and his curly mullet is blowing in the wind. Classic.
'Lethal Weapon' (1987)
Looking back now, it's easy to make fun of this mullet. But at the time, Mel Gibson was at the cutting edge of hairstyles. I mean, his mullet looked like it had its own personal assistant. It always looked good.
'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' (1991)
From Alan Rickman to Christian Slater, this movie is full of mullet magic but it's Kevin Costner's hair that takes the cake. He's an outlaw living in Sherwood Forest, presumably without shampoo or a shower and yet in every scene, it looks like his hair just got a blowout.
'Road House' (1989)
Here's the thing. Patrick Swayze always looked like he was rockin' a mullet and he always looked good doing it. So there is nothing bad we can say about this hairstyle. "Road House" is a classic for so many, and so is Swayze's mullet.
'Full House' (1987 - 1995)
Have Mercy! Yes, this isn't a movie, but you can't have a best mullet list without mentioning Jesse Katsopolis from "Full House”. The super cool uncle, played by John Stamos, was a total heartthrob. He wore a leather jacket, played the guitar and had an exceptional mullet.
