Okay, so Christmas and witches don't exactly sound like a match, but the new adaption of Roald Dahl's beloved story offers some fun family viewing.
After the 1990 version with Anjelica Huston terrified a generation, Anne Hathaway will get her chance to frighten a whole new audience as the Grand High Witch in “The Witches”. Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci and Chris Rock star in the upcoming film directed by “Back To The Future” director Robert Zemeckis.
The film was originally set for an October release in Canada but was moved due to the pandemic and will instead open on Dec. 25 in select theatres and on digital.

“Soul” was another casualty of COVID-19. The Disney/Pixar animated movie about a musician who has lost his passion for music is transported outside of his body and must find his way back in with the help of an infant soul should have opened in theatres in June, then November. Featuring the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Questlove, Angela Basset, Daveed Diggs and Phylicia Rashad, “Soul” will now be released on the streaming platform on Christmas Day but, unlike "Mulan", will not cost an additional $30 premium to view.

While this film doesn’t feature the originals films’ stars Taron Egerton, Colin Firth and Mark Strong, it does focus on another young upstart new to the spy game but with some royal pedigree this time. Ralph Fiennes, Rhys Ifans, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Daniel Bruhl, Stanley Tucci, Gemma Arterton and Djimon Hounsou star.

Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and Lea Seydoux all return to the franchise along with newcomers Ana de Armas, Lashana Lynch and Jeffrey Wright.

‘A Quiet Place Part II’

The red carpet was rolled out for the premiere of John Krasinski’s horror sequel on March 8 in New York City, just before the start of the pandemic. Initially scheduled for a March 20 release, the cast including Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy had already done the press rounds before the movie was pulled from theatres just days after the premiere.
“Well due to the ever-changing circumstances of what’s going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that,” Krasinski said in a statement. “As insanely excited as we are for all of you to see this movie ... I’m gonna wait to release the film til we can all see it together.”
After being scheduled for September, the movie will now open over a full year

Star-crossed lovers Tony (Ansel Elgort) and Maria (Rachel Zegler) will dance their way through 1950s New York in Steven Spielberg’s take on the classic Romeo and Juliet story. This musical version is said to follow the Broadway more closely than the revered Academy Award winning 1961 musical. That took home 10 Oscars.
The release date for the film has been pushed back a whole year to December 2021.

Branagh once again directs the film with a new ensemble cast of A-listers including Armie Hammer, Gal Gadot, Annette Bening, Letitia Wright, Russell Brand and Jennifer Saunders.
The movie was originally scheduled for November 2020, but has since been pulled from the release schedule entirely.
