2001: Luscious Locks
In 2001, Blake Shelton and his long luscious locks made their debut in the country music scene. The singer was originally supposed to release “I Wanna Talk About Me” as his first single, but ended up releasing “Austin”, which spent five weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Toby Keith ended up recording “I Wanna Talk About Me” later that year, which became his seventh No. 1 song.
2003: Leather Loving Man
At the 2003 ACM Awards, the country crooner made his mark on the red carpet rocking a rich brown leather jacket and a matching button-up shirt. Shelton was nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for being featured on Tracy Byrd’s “The Truth About Men”.
2004: Canadian Tuxedo
By 2004, Blake Shelton was a household name in country music. He released his third album Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill, which housed his third No. 1 and one of his most recognized songs to date, “Some Beach”.
And many fans might forget, but by 2004 Blake was married to his first wife Kaynette Williams. The high school sweethearts wed in a small ceremony in Gatlinburg, Tenn. in November of 2003. The couple split in 2006, before Shelton married Miranda Lambert.
2004: New Friends
At the 2004 CMT Flame Worthy Video Music Awards, Blake did not pass up the opportunity to strike a pose with Matthew McConaughey, who was now known for his starring roles in many romantic comedies, including 2003’s “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”.
2005: A Shorter ‘Do
At the Radio Music Awards in 2005, Blake debuted a shorter hairdo, slowly making the transition away from his trademark curls. In 2005, Blake’s song “Nobody But Me” was featured in the rom-com “The Christmas Blessing” and he was even featured singing the tune at the end of the movie.
2005 was also the year Blake met Miranda Lambert. Although he was still married to his first wife, their first interaction took place during a duets concert when they were paired up to perform “You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma”. Some might say it was love at first sight for the two, so there was no surprise Shelton filed for divorce from Kaynette Gern five months later.
2006: Blake Meets ‘Real Housewives’
At the 2006 CMT Music Awards, Blake let his country roots shine while presenting alongside “Days Of Our Lives” and “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Rinna.
2007: The Beginning Of Blake & Miranda
Blake and Miranda officially started dating in 2006 and posed for one of their first photos together while backstage at the 2007 ACM Awards.
In 2007, Blake also released his fourth album Pure BS and made his debut on reality TV, appearing as a judge on “Nashville Star”.
2008: Stepping Out At The Grammys
In 2008, the Oklahoma-native officially said goodbye to his long hair and debuted a tailored trim at the Grammy Awards. This was a big year for Shelton, who released his fifth album Startin’ Fires and re-released Pure BS with an added cover of Michael Buble’s “Home”. Shelton’s version of the ballad became a No. 1 hit.
2010: Award-Winning Bromance
Blake and his best pal Trace Adkins performed their smash-hit “Hillbilly Bone” at the ACM Awards in 2010, where they took home the trophy for Vocal Event of the Year.
2010: The Newly Engaged Couple
2010 continued to be a huge year for Shelton both personally and professionally. About one month after the ACM Awards, Blake popped the question to Miranda Lambert after dating for four years.
2010: The Newest Opry Member
To top off his successful year, Blake received the surprise of a lifetime when he was asked to join Nashville’s longest-running country music show, the Grand Ole Opry. Blake was surprised on stage with the offer by Trace Adkins and was officially inducted on Oct. 23.
About a month after his Opry induction, Blake took home both Male Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year at the annual CMA Awards.
2011: Blake Joins ‘The Voice’
It’s hard to believe Blake has been on “The Voice” for almost 10 years. In 2011, the singer joined the reality competition show as a coach alongside Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, and Adam Levine.
This was also the year Blake tied the knot with Miranda Lambert at a Texas ranch.
2012: A Roller Coaster Year
2012 started off rough for the singer, who lost his father on Jan. 17 at the age of 71. But he would soon gain even more professional success, earning his 11th No. 1 for “Drink On It”. Shelton also released his first Christmas album Cheers, It's Christmas.
2015: Hosting Duties
In 2015, the singer hosted the 50th Annual ACM Awards with Luke Bryan months before he and Miranda shocked the world with the announcement of their divorce.
2015: The Beginning Of Blake & Gwen
That same year, after announcing his divorce, Blake was spotted with his new flame Gwen Stefani while attending an Arizona Cardinals game. The couple first connected while appearing as coaches on “The Voice” together.
Shelton also released another greatest hits album in 2015 which featured 20 of his No.1 hits, including “God Gave Me You”, “Sangria”, and “Honey Bee”.
2016: Couples Goals
By 2016, Blake and Gwen were inseparable and quickly became America’s new favourite power-couple. Here, they’re seen cuddling up beside each other at the Pre-Grammy Gala and Salute to Industry Icons.
Blake also released his 10th studio album If I’m Honest and was named Favourite Male Country Artist at the People’s Choice Awards.
2017: Sexiest Man Alive
2017 was arguably the best year for Blake, especially having been named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive”.
“People are going to hate me over this,” joked the singer after earning the honour, adding the best part was that he could rub it in the face of his fellow “Voice” coach and 2013 “Sexiest Man Alive” honouree, Adam Levine.
Blake also released his 11th studio album Texoma Shore, which housed his hit “I’ll Name the Dogs”.
2019: A Family Outing
Stepping out at the “Ugly Dolls” Los Angeles premiere, Blake looked so in love with Gwen’s three kids, marking their first red carpet appearance as a family of five.
2019: Another Trophy
Blake released his smash-hit “God’s Country” in 2019, which went on to earn him Single of the Year at the CMA Awards and a Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance.
He finished off 2019 with the release of his latest album Fully Loaded: God’s Country, which featured five new songs alongside seven of his previously recorded hits.
2020: ‘Nobody But You’
At the 2020 Grammy Awards, the two shared a hug on stage after an aww-worthy performance of their romantic duet “Nobody But You”.
