We’re not saying that expectations are high for 'Holly Dolly Christmas', we’re just saying that a Glamour magazine headline recently declared that “Dolly Parton’s New Christmas Album Will Save 2020.” Even Parton is in on the hype: “I’ve never been more excited about a project in my whole career than my ‘Holly Dolly Christmas’ album. I’m singing with some of the greatest artists ever on some of our favourite classic Christmas songs and a few new ones that I have written," she shared in a statement. "I hope we all have a Holly Dolly Christmas this year!”
Her first Christmas album in 30 years features Michael Bublé, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon, and Willie Nelson on a mix of new holiday songs and Christmas classics. Get saved!
UNIVERSAL MUSIC CANADA
“I’ve always wanted to make a Christmas album and it’s been a long time coming,” the seven-time Grammy winner said in a statement about ‘My Gift’, which features "Hallelujah", her duet with John Legend. “I knew this would be my next music project after wrapping my tour last year, and I think it’s turned out to be the perfect time for an album like this, in this period of such personal and spiritual reflection. For me, it’s more important than ever to focus on the true meaning of Christmas in a project like this. Even though it has been a tough year for all of us, sometimes I feel like the greatest realizations can be inspired by the most difficult times, and make us more grateful for the things we do have and for what truly matters.”
Maddie & Tae
Platinum-selling duo Maddie & Tae’s holiday release, 'We Need Christmas', features two originals, “Merry Married Christmas” and the title track “We Need Christmas”, plus favourites, including “This Christmas”, “Holly Jolly Christmas” and more.
“I think more than ever, as we say in 'We Need Christmas', we really need all the joy and hope and love that the holiday season brings,” Maddie Font said in a statement. “There’s just something about Christmas that kind of silences all the chaos for a couple of days where you just get to quiet down with your loved ones. We’re so excited to celebrate Christmas this year and really cherish that quality time that we didn’t get as much of this year with quarantining and everything. And we get to blast our own Christmas songs for our families!”
Three-time Juno-nominated Nova Scotia folk-pop singer-songwriter Jenn Grant has a Patsy Cline-inspired collection of holiday standards for you, plus the new, original track “Downtown On Christmas”. It’s all part of ‘Forever On Christmas Eve’, her eighth record and first Christmas disc.
The 'Happiest Season' Soundtrack
Tegan and Sara's new Christmas song “Make You Mine This Season” was written for this new Kristen Stewart movie, which streams on Amazon Prime beginning December 9. The trailblazing Christmas rom-com features a same-sex couple and also stars Mackenzie Davis, Daniel Levy, Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza. The soundtrack features new songs and holiday favourites by Bebe Rexha, Sia, Brandy Clark and more.

Babyface executive produced and features on the L.A. pop star’s first holiday record, ‘A Tori Kelly Christmas’. Kelly penned two new songs for the collection, which features a Babyface collab on “Let It Snow”.
“I’m so grateful to Babyface for helping me create an album that I am so proud of,” Kelly said in a statement. “I still can’t believe that I got to work with such a legend on my first-ever Christmas album. He really brought my vision to life and made every song so special.” ‘A Tori Kelly Christmas’ follows her EP, “Solitude”, which came out in August.
‘Seasonal Shift’ came out the first week of December but don’t call it a Christmas record:
“It's more of a seasonal album,” says the Arizona band’s Joey Burns in a statement. “I never thought this would have gone the way that it did. We were aiming to record a six-song EP and we kept going. I guess I never thought I would be on semi-permanent hibernation mode either, but I'm super happy and extremely grateful.”
Fans of this Americana/Tex-Mex/indie rock band will be, too. The album opens with “Hear the Bells” and includes a cover of Tom Petty’s “Christmas All Over Again”.
Leslie Odom Jr.
You might know him from his award-winning performance as Aaron Burr in "Hamilton" but get ready to get to know him as Mr. Christmas. ‘The Christmas Album’ features "Last Christmas", "O Holy Night" and "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas", plus the standout, "Winter Song" featuring Cynthia Erivo. This is the second Christmas record from the Tony and Grammy Award-winning tenor, following 2016’s ‘Simply Christmas’.
The 'Jingle Jangle' Soundtrack
The team from the multi-Emmy Award-winning "Jesus Christ Superstar" has reunited to produce the music for Netflix’s family holiday musical, "Jingle Jangle". John Legend, Harvey Mason Jr. and Mike Jackson are behind the soundtrack for the Forest Whitaker-starring movie about a toymaker, his granddaughter, and a magical invention that could change their lives — if only they could get it to work in time for the holidays. Keegan-Michael Key, Ricky Martin, Anika Noni Rose, and newcomer Madalen Mills also star — and sing! The film’s nine new holiday songs could become classics.
Goo Goo Dolls
From “Iris” to poinsettias! The Buffalo, N.Y., rockers have unleashed their first holiday album, ‘It’s Christmas All Over’. It includes covers of Christmas classics like "Let It Snow" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", as well as two new original holiday songs. Right now, the Goo Goo Dolls are recording a new album to accompany the North American tour they have planned for the summer of 2021.

“Working on a holiday album during the summer, and a global pandemic, worldwide civil rights protesting, historical wildfires and the lead-up to the most important election of our lives is really, really strange” Inara George said in a statement about creating the new holiday album, ‘Put Up the Lights’.
“I’m so happy it’s finally here,” added Greg Kurstin, the other half of this L.A. indie-pop duo. “We included some of our favourite holiday songs and wrote a couple of originals too. One of my favourite songs we wrote is “You and I at Christmas Time” which was written through email. I sent Inara the piano part and I was blown away by what she sang over it.” Another highlight is “Little Drummer Boy”, featuring Dave Grohl.

The "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" hitmaker will turn 27 on Dec. 22. “I’m a Christmas baby, it’s always been a dream of mine to release a Christmas album and to do it with my family makes it that much better,” Trainor said in a statement about her first-ever holiday release, ‘A Very Trainor Christmas’. And it certainly delivers on the Trainor: her dad Gary guests on “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and her cousins Jayden, Jenna, and Marcus appear on “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer”.
“Songs featuring my family are like permanent memories that I get to replay all the time," she says. But it's not just family members guesting on this record. "Earth, Wind & Fire and Seth MacFarlane are two of my family’s all-time favourites — we worship the ground they walk on — so to get them to feature on this album still doesn’t feel real.” You'll hear MacFarlane on “White Christmas” and Earth, Wind & Fire on “Holidays”. “Best Christmas Present Ever!” proclaimed the Grammy-winning singer/songwriter.
