Actor/writer/comedian Seth Rogen has added another talent to his impressive resume: pottery-making. Rogen started his journey into the world of ceramics in 2019. A longtime collector of novelty ashtrays, a pastime that went hand in hand with his love of weed, Rogen started to make his own ashtrays instead of purchasing them. But his pottery work quickly expanded beyond ashtrays to include a host of other ceramic items, including bottles, vases, and pots. Looking over the many items Rogen’s created, there’s no doubt his skill and style have evolved since he began. Here are some highlights of Seth’s foray into the world of pottery.

It all began with an ashtray. Rogen posted his first ceramic creation on Instagram in April 2019, writing, "So maybe I joined a pottery studio so I could start making my own ashtrays."

Rogen's work, which he admitted started off looking a bit childish, quickly evolved. In August 2019, he posted this photo of a sophisticated-looking ash tray and vase in a vibrant green. "Another ashtray set!" he wrote. "I like this black clay mixed with the green glaze. It’s fun to do something that you can see yourself improving, all the while making things that make weed smoking more enjoyable. Win all around!!"

More than a year later, Rogen had experimented with new forms for his ashtrays.

These bottles, which Rogen showed off in October 2019, hinted at a foray into colour which became more prominent over time.

Texture became another element that Rogen added to his work, as seen here in what he described as a "Crater-y vase" from September 2020.
