Almost like clock work, Queen Elizabeth heads to Balmoral Castle in Scotland in early August to enjoy a multi-week stay with family members coming for rotating visits.
Much of the time is spent outdoors from horseback riding, picnics and hunting.
"I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands," Princess Eugenie once said.

Mustique

The Caribbean island Mustique was a favourite of Princess Margaret as it was very exclusive and free of paparazzi.
In more recent years, Prince William and Kate Middleton have enjoyed the tropical waters often along with other members of the Middleton family.

While Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis attend school in London for most of the year, any break they get, Prince William and Kate Middleton jet back to Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, and husband, Mike Tindall, have spent time there in the past.

Llwynywermod

Each summer Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall undertake a tour of Wales.
While there, they stay at his restored farmhouse in Llwynywermod.
The home is also where Prince Charles retreated to mourn Prince Philip after his funeral.

Princess Diana enjoyed the privacy of the 74 acre retreat in the British Virgin Islands where Prince William and Prince Harry would play in the sand.

Another favourite spot for Prince Charles and Camilla to get away to is Birhall in Scotland.
Prince Charles has spent extensive time designing the gardens, having to start from scratch after floods hit the area in 2016.
The home was once owned by the Queen Mother.

The pair often pick the exclusive Sotogrande resort to stay at in Costa del Sol.
