Summer is on the horizon and that means music’s biggest stars and hottest up-and-comers are touching down for must-see music festivals across Canada and the U.S.

Arguably the most famous electronic music festival in the world, EDC Las Vegas has come and gone with another loaded lineup. EDM giants like Deadmau5 and Kaskade, Armin Van Buuren and Dillon Francis will take part, plus newer booming acts like Illenium and ACRAZE.

You should probably answer when Boston comes calling. The 2022 Boston Calling music festival features three huge rock bands on the marquee. Foo Fighters, The Strokes and Metallica headline the three-day event. The second line is equally as loaded with the likes of Avril Lavigne, Run the Jewels, Weezer, Haim, Glass Animals and Modest Mouse.

Governors Ball returns to Citi Field in New York City with a star-studded lineup of pop and hip-hop artists. Kid Cudi, Halsey and J. Cole headline Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows, respectively. Other major talents to hit the stage include Jack Harlow, Migos, Roddy Ricch and Playboi Carti. Notable electronic artists like Flume, Louis the Child and Kaytranada are also on the bill.

Bonnaroo 2022 kicks off with fast-rising electronic star Gryffin on Thursday, before welcoming J. Cole, The Chicks and Illenium on Friday. The well-rounded festival is headlined by Tool, Flume and 21 Savage on Saturday and closes off with Stevie Nicks, Machine Gun Kelly and Roddy Rich on Sunday. A special performance by Jack Antonoff's 1984 is also promoted, as well Disclosure, Porter Robinson, Chvrches and Rezz.

North by Northeast has yet to release its 2022 lineup, but a look at the 2017 edition shows off the festival's penchant for big acts. 2017 featured Passion Pit, Post Malone and Tyler, The Creator plus throwbacks like Talib Kweli.

There is something good in the waters of Washington, D.C. Pharrell Williams will be joined by special guests including Justin Timberlake, SZA and N.O.R.E at Something in the Water this summer. Escapade returns to Ottawa with a mammoth lineup celebrating all things EDM. Global electronic sensations like Martin Garrix, DJ Snake, Tiesto, Kaskade, Illenium and Alan Walker stick out. Canada's bass superstar Excision is also scheduled alongside Seven Lions and Slander.

Festival d'ete de Quebec welcomes a diverse lineup of global acts present and past. Sticking out on the lineup are Alanis Morissette, Luke Combs, Maroon 5, Marshmello and Rage Against the Machine. Rolling Loud Miami is pulling out all the stops with hip-hop giants. Ye (Kanye West) opens Friday, Future carries fans through Saturday and Sunday closes out with Kendrick Lamar fresh off the heels of his latest album. Other major names on the bill include 2 Chainz, Lil Yachty, Three 6 Mafia, Saweetie, Soulja Boy, DaBaby, Lil Baby, Baby Keem and A$AP Ferg.

Shambhala often ranks among the most unique and highly-touted electronic music festivals in the world. The quiet region of Salmo River transforms into a haven for electronic fans. This year's eclectic lineup welcomes house mainstays Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo, popular names like Rudimental, TokiMonsta, Valentino Khan and Felix Cartel, and bass artists Slander and Subtronics. A surprising number of popular hip-hop acts are also on the marquee, such as: bbno$, Cordae, DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Premier.

Chicago gets all the goods, including what just might be the most stacked festival lineup of 2022. pulling from all genres, this year's Lollapalooza features Metallica, Dua Lipa, J. Cole, Green Day, Doja Cat, Machine Gun Kelly, Lily Baby and Kygo. And those are just the headliners. Other big names include Glass Animals, Big Sean, The Kid Laroi, Charli XCX, Kaskade, Rezz and YG.

Heading back to Canada, the 2022 Osheaga festival has no shortage of heavy-hitters. Foo Fighters, ASAP Rocky and Dua Lipa headline the three-day event that also welcomes Kygo, The KidLaroi, Charli XCX, Mitski, Machine Gun Kelly and Glass Animals.

One province over, Toronto welcomes some of the biggest names in electronic music. Veld Music Festival transforms Downsview Park into an electronic paradise with Alesso, Armin Van Buuren, The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, Martin Garrix and Porter Robinson. Other names to look out for are ATLiens, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Galantis, Gryffin, Jauz, John Summit, Meduza, Nghtmre, Saint Jhn, Tchami and Zomboy.

Chasing Summer packs a punch with a condensed lineup of DJs. British Columbia's Excision and Holland's Armin Van Buuren headline the two-day event. Loud Luxury visits from the U.S. and Fisher makes the trip over from Australia. A particularly fun inclusion is DJ Diesel, also known as Shaquille O'Neal.

Burning Man is more of a lifestyle than a music festival at this point. The all-encompassing art festival touches down in Black Rock Desert in Nevada. No musical lineup has been released.
