Fans all over the world have been left shocked, confused and fascinated by Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s ongoing legal battle following their 2017 divorce.

As Depp’s defamation case against Heard continues to play out in court, ET Canada takes a look back at the other celebrity divorces that have dominated headlines.

Denise Richards And Charlie Sheen

Richards was six months pregnant with their second daughter, Lola, at the time that the couple filed for divorce.

The actress accused the "Two and a Half Men" star of prescription medication abuse, violent mood swings, gambling, and use of pornography.
Johnny Depp And Amber Heard

Depp and Heard started dating after meeting on the set of “The Rum Diary”. The couple were wed in 2015; however, their relationship came to an end just 15 months later.

Heard filed for a divorce — and for a restraining order —after appearing in a Los Angeles court with a bruised cheek, claiming that Depp had thrown a mobile phone at her face. Depp denied all allegations of abuse.
Jennifer Aniston And Brad Pitt

Aniston and Pitt became Hollywood’s golden couple after walking down the aisle in 2000.

Everything changed when Pitt started working with Angelina Jolie on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" in 2004, ultimately divorcing Aniston in October 2005.
Gwen Stefani And Gavin Rossdale

Stefani and Rossdale's divorce came amid an Us Weekly report, which claimed that Rossdale had cheated for years with their children’s former nanny.

Stefani has since found love again with country superstar Blake Shelton.
Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt

Following his divorce from Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt entered a long-term relationship with Angelina Jolie in 2005, getting married in 2014.

Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, after an alleged incident involving their son Maddox, then 15, onboard a private jet.

Pitt has since been cleared of the allegations; however, a lengthy battle over custody of their six children followed.
Kelly Clarkson And Brandon Blackstock

After the couple filed for divorce in June 2020, Starstruck Management Group — owned by Brandon's father — sued Clarkson, claiming she had not paid the total commission for her work on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" and "The Voice" in 2020.

Clarkson countersued Starstruck the following November.
Nicole Kidman And Tom Cruise

Kidman and Cruise first started dating while starring together in 1990’s “Days of Thunder”, and tied the knot that same year.

The couple were wed for 11 years before calling an end to things amid rumours that Cruise’s devotion to Scientology caused a rift in their marriage.
Kris Humphries And Kim Kardashian

Although the former lovers were married for just 72 days, their divorce wasn’t finalized for over two years.

Humphries claimed that Kardashian used their marriage to help ratings on “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and tried to get an annulment.

The pair eventually reached a settlement in 2013, while Kardashian was expecting her first child with Kanye West.
Tiger Woods And Elin Nordegren

Woods went to rehab for sex addiction after being outed as a “serial cheater” in 2010.

Nordegren decided to leave Woods, with the divorce costing the pro golfer a whopping $100 million.
Kevin Federline And Britney Spears

In her 2008 documentary "For the Record", the "Toxic" singer admitted that she made a mistake when it came to marrying the backup dancer after just two months of dating.

Sources claimed that Federline’s bad boy behaviour contributed to the couple’s split following two years of marriage.
