Helen Hunt might just tap in for another game of "Twister". Deadline recently announced that a Twister sequel, dubbed "Twisters", is in the works as Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment meet with potential directors. A sequel to the 1996 movie is expected to start filming in spring with the hope of Hunt reprising her role as Doctor Jo Harding.

'Sister Act 3'

"Sister Act" is hitting the three-peat. Whoopi Goldberg recently confirmed that "Sister Act 3" is in the works. Goldberg expected to have the script sometime near the end of October, and named a number of celebrities she wanted to be involved in the project, including Keke Palmer, Lizzo and Nicki Minaj.

'Legally Blonde 3'

Reese Witherspoon is returning to a fan-favourite franchise. "Legally Blonde 3" is set to premiere sometime in 2023. The movie will land 22 years after the original and exactly two decades following its sequel. Witherspoon will return as Elle Woods in a movie written by Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor.

'Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley'

The Beverly Hills cops are back on the clock. Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as Axel Foley in "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley," the fourth film in the franchise. There is no timeline for the release but the comedy movie is expected to premiere on Netflix. Among the names set to star alongside Murphy are Taylour Paige, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Reiser.

'The Exorcist 2'

Someone call an exorcist! The horror takeover continues in the movie business with a new "The Exorcist" trilogy. A whole new generation of moviegoers might find themselves wide awake at night in the presence of Pazuzu. The movie is expected to follow in the footsteps of the original three movies, treating them as cannon. A number of "The Exorcist" prequels and sequels were made in the aftermath of the original trilogy, as well as a well-received but short-lived television series. The new movie is expected to premiere on Oct. 13, 2023.

'A Christmas Story Christmas'

Who doesn't love a good "Christmas Story"? Erinn Hayes, River Drosche and Julianna Layne are among those cast in "A Christmas Story Christmas", a sequel to the 1983 holiday classic. Original stars Peter Billingsley, Ian Petrella, Zack Ward, Scott Schwartz and R.D. Robb are all set to return as well.

'This Is Spinal Tap 2'

You were introduced to the first one, now "This is Spinal Tap 2". Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer are returning for a sequel to the beloved heavy metal spoof. The movie is expected to premiere sometime in 2024 to coincide with the original film's 40th anniversary.

'Indiana Jones 5'

Indiana Jones is not ready to retire quite yet. Disney announced in Dec. 2020 that James Mangold ("Ford v Ferrari", "Logan") will direct the fifth installment into the "Indiana Jones" legacy. Harrison Ford returns as the titular character in what is expected to be the final film in the franchise. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, John Rhys-Davies and Antonio Banderas have been cast in the movie. The premiere date is set for June 30, 2023.

'Beetlejuice 2'

If you say "Beetlejuice" six times, you might just get a sequel. Brad Pitt's Plan B production company is working on a follow-up to Tim Burton's classic 1989 Oscar winner. The original film boasted a stunning cast including Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder.

'Lethal Finale'

Mel Gibson is directing the fifth installment in the "Lethal Weapon" franchise. Progress on the movie was delayed by the Warner Bros.-Discovery merger but Gibson is confident that "Lethal Finale" will get back on track. Expectations are the movie will start production in the first quarter of 2023.

'Gladiator 2'

Are you not entertained? Well, you are about to me. Filmmaker Ridley Scott has a sequel to "Gladiator" on the way. Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix were among the original movie's stars. Casting for the sequel is under wraps but there are unsubstantiated rumours that Chris Hemsworth will be involved.

'Face/Off 2'

"Godzilla vs. Kong" director Adam Wingard is leading a direct sequel to the 1997 movie "Face/Off". The original film starred John Travolta and Nicolas Cage as a good guy and bad guy, respectively, who swapped faces. It was a wild action movie directed by John Woo.

'Big Trouble In Little China 2'

Trouble is afoot. Dwayne Johnson is expected to lead a sequel to 1986's "Big Trouble in Little China" starring Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall. Much like "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle", "Big Trouble in Little China 2" will not be a remake of the original movie.

'Triplets'

As if "Twins" weren't enough. The iconic buddy comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito is getting a sequel. Tracy Morgan will star as the duo's long-lost third brother in Ivan Reitman's decades-awaited follow-up film. Interestingly, Morgan's role was originally expected to be filled by Eddie Murphy. There is no premiere date set for "Triplets".

'Twilight of the Mallrats'

Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes are at it again. The duo is working diligently on the release of "Twilight of the Mallrats", a follow-up to their 1995 cult classic comedy "Mallrats". A number of the original stars are returning for the sequel, including Ben Affleck and Jason Lee.
