The new year brings a slew of movies to look forward to. From new installments of your fave franchises to fresh titles and superheroes galore, here are the films we’re most excited to see in 2023.

It’s more than just neon rollerskating gear! After being expelled from Barbieland for her less-than-perfect looks, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness in this highly-anticipated movie due out on July 21. It stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, and co-stars Will Ferrell and Helen Mirren.

Jared Leto and Jamie Lee Curtis star in this family-friendly fantasy film due out August 11. Tiffany Haddish and Owen Wilson also star in this story of a priest, a professor and a paranormal investigator who try to help a woman and her family after they unwittingly move into a haunted mansion in New Orleans. This is the latest feature film to be based on a Disney theme park ride.

In this animated Disney musical, 17-year-old Asha (voiced by "West Side Story" Oscar winner Ariana DeBose) and her goat Valentino (Alan Tudyk) navigate Rosas, the kingdom of wishes, where wishes can literally come true. (And we're talking 'literally' in the old-fashioned sense of the word where it means 'actually'!) Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn direct from a script written by Jennifer Lee.

Tom Cruise is taking motorcycle stunts to new heights in the sequel to 2018's "Mission: Impossible – Fallout". The seventh instalment in the "Mission: Impossible" series also stars Pom Klementieff, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby in an action-packed flick that's set for a July 14 release.

Out on June 30, the highly-anticipated fifth installment of the iconic franchise stars Harrison Ford and is directed by James Mangold. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, and John Rhys-Davies also star. John Williams, who has scored each Indy adventure since the original "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in 1981, is once again composing the score.

Did any of us anticipate a controversy caused by Mario's voice casting? And yet controversy indeed erupted when Chris Pratt (who is decidedly un-Italian) was cast in the voice role of Mario. Charlie Day (also not that Italian) will play Luigi with Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. The plumbers' tale comes out April 7.

Spider-Man has reunited with Gwen Stacy, and now he'll encounter a team of Spider-People. But Spider-Man is about to discover that people — even Spider-People — can be like, ugh, the worst, as the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat. The animated adventure is out June 3.

Disney is rolling out another live action remake and this one has already made news headlines with the wholly unnecessary controversy over the casting of a Black actress, Halle Bailey, in the titular role. Out on May 26, it features four new songs from Lynn Manuel Miranda.

You know what's very engaging? The story of a 500-pound black bear on a drug-fueled rampage against cops, criminals, tourists, and teenagers. Keri Russell and O'Shea Jackson Jr. are part of the ensemble cast of this black comedy thriller out February 24.

We misread that as "Quadrophenia" and for one shining moment, we were anticipating a superhero story based on The Who's 1973 rock opera. Instead, get ready for Ant-Man and the Wasp to explore the Quantum Realm and its strange new creatures. He heads to London with a wealthy socialite and whips a new roster dancers into shape. But is this really the "Last Dance"? It may be for Mike, but not to worry. Director Steven Soderbergh has hinted at more installments in the franchise, which will be centered around other characters.

In this installment, Paul Atreides joins Chani and the Fremen to seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. It's out November 3.
